It is great to see this website. Being a Hebbar Iyengar was a huge part of my younger days and still holds a lot of sweet memories. Now having lived outside India for the last 25years a lot of the customs have disappeared from my life as we are now more cosmopolitan to suit our practical needs of the day. But a lot of the customs are very much applicable today and give me and my family great joy. A Hebbar Iyengar family customs are so important in drawing the family unit together. Many relegions have customs that are more community based, like the punjabis, gujarthis and other communities. B,ut I find our hebbar customs bring the family unit at home closer and we enjoy the pandiges and poojes so much and it binds us together and uplifts us spiritually. We have this lovely time we keep aside to pray, enjoy, eat and bond with each other.

As I went through the various areas of the site it brought back vivid memories of my childhood specially the anai pandige and all the customs my parents had at home. There are a lot of these that I carry on even now but there are some that have got left behind. It was an emotional and a very pleasant trip down the memory lane. I speak to my children in detail about everything we did before on each pandige. The oil bath custom of Sundays. I was fortunate to have great grandmothers who took time to explain a lot of customs and why it was done the way it was. My children love to hear about the logic and reasons behind why customs were followed and why some of them are relevant today and why some of them aren't. Would love to keep in touch and read more.

Having lived for nearly 17 years in UK and France and now for the past 7 years in Cyprus, it is a delight to see all the temples on the site.

Awesome website. Thank you, some of the recipes that I had stopped making. It jogged my memory. May be I will try them again. BTW, our last name as above is Kadambi, which is a variation of the Kidambi

I love this website and I am so glad to see the recipies of the Iyengar dishes. What a wonderful Ideas. Can you please add 3 thing to this. I want to know how to make the Chatambd Pudi, Gasgase Kannamdu and Nalgri Pudi. For us in US it is hard to find the Chatmbd pudi unless we come to Bangalore and get it. It is easier for us to do it at home if we have the method step by step. Please do add this It is so important for us US folks who can not come to India every year.

Keep up the good work

I found your site when I was looking for a particular dish that my landlady used to make when I was a paying guest at her place in Bangalore. It is not amongst the recipes you had posted, but today I tried out the Bendekai Nalagari and would like to tell you that it came out very well. Not only that, it was a new way to make a curry. I used it with chapathis. Thank you for posting all those.
